WORKSHOP
Christian, Do You Know What You've Gotten Yourself Into?
Many believers live far below the spiritual inheritance God has graciously provided in Christ. This workshop examines Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1, helping participants discover the hope of God's calling, the riches of their inheritance, and the greatness of His power at work in every believer. As counselors and disciplers gain a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ, they will be better equipped to help others overcome fear, discouragement, anxiety, and spiritual defeat by resting confidently in the sufficiency of Christ.
Pastor J. Michael Baker
IABC Member Services Director, Board Member
Workshop: "One Anothering in the Valley of Shame: Practical Help in Times of Restoration"
Pastor Michael Baker is an IABC Certified Counselor, serves on the IABC Board of Directors, and is the Association’s Member Services Director. For more than eighteen years, he has faithfully served as Senior Pastor of Renfrew Baptist Church in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. He received theological training at North Greenville University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has devoted more than a decade to biblical counseling, helping bring the hope of God’s Word to hurting people.
Workshop
One Anothering in the Valley of Shame
Shame often lingers long after sin has been confessed, especially following moral failure, addiction, or sexual sin. Left unaddressed, shame can isolate believers from the body of Christ and hinder spiritual growth. This workshop examines how biblical counselors can faithfully restore those who have fallen while also ministering to families and churches affected by public failure. Participants will learn how God's grace transforms shame into humility, healing, and renewed usefulness in His kingdom.
Dr. Bill Hines
IABC Board Advisor
Workshop: "One Anothering - By Learning to Leave Yesterday Behind"
Dr. Bill Hines is an IABC Certified Counselor and serves on the IABC Advisory Board. He and his wife, Kathy, enjoy five children and seven grandchildren.
Workshop
One Anothering by Leaving Yesterday Behind
Past wounds, painful memories, and sinful choices often continue to influence believers long after they have come to Christ. This workshop explores how the Holy Spirit uses God's Word to expose lingering heart issues, replace bondage with biblical hope, and lead believers into lasting freedom. Participants will learn a practical process for identifying spiritual obstacles, embracing God's promises, and pursuing the life Christ intends. Drawing from Philippians 3:12, this session will encourage counselors to help others leave yesterday behind so they can faithfully pursue God's calling today.

We Need More Gospel in Counseling Sessions!
The gospel is far richer than a single moment at the cross—it encompasses the entire person and work of Jesus Christ. This workshop encourages counselors to present the fullness of the gospel as the foundation for lasting heart transformation rather than limiting it to forgiveness alone. Together we will examine the Scriptures to better understand the good news Christ proclaimed and how a fuller understanding of the gospel brings hope, sanctification, and genuine life change to those we counsel.

Using Shakespeare's famous description of jealousy as "the green-eyed monster" as a starting point, this workshop examines what Scripture teaches about these destructive sins and their impact on the human heart. Participants will learn how to distinguish jealousy from envy, identify their underlying heart motives, and apply biblical truth that leads to contentment, gratitude, and Christ-centered love for others.

WHO IS IABC?
The International Association of Biblical Counselors exists to proclaim Christ, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28). With our headquarters in Colorado and Member Services in South Carolina, IABC has been serving the church since 1996.
Our desire is to allow for freedom of convictions on doctrinal matters provided that any interpretation is based on the Bible alone and that no such interpretation shall become an issue that hinders the ministry of biblical counseling to which God has called us. We desire to avoid doctrinal extremes and maintain a balanced leadership team seeking to be doctrinally sound, shying away from the present day extremes. "...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting." Eph. 4:14
